Hello !
I am trying to follow the method to prepare an image for tracing that has been described on your website. ! Can you please tell the difference between SAVE FOR WEB and the POSTERIZE EFFECT in PHOTOSHOP I think both of them are giving me the same effect ??
Also can you also explain why you choose to save the image as a GIF and not JPEG ?

The Save for Web has many more adjustment possibilities than Posterize. In Save forWeb you can select diffrent ways to separate the image and you can lock colors you want to keep and delete others you find unnessesary. And Save for Web work much better than posterize with colour images. The reason for not using jpeg is that the compression alters the pixels and instead of uni coloured layers you end up having layers with more than one colour which then later are impossible to select for further work. You need the colours to stay single coloured and the edges between two layers to be s100% sharp.

PLEASE RIGHT CLICK TO "OPEN THE LINK IN A NEW TAB" TO VIEW THE IMAGE THANKYOU !

As you can see on the jpeg compression makes it impossible to select one color and you need to be able to do that when using an image as a guide for painting. I have discribed more about how to avoid image interpolation here: sensuallogic.com/painters-tools/image-interpolation.htmlChristian Three colours chosen with no image interpolation. The same three colours chosen with image interpolation. There are areas along the edges that are undefined.
